Jesus, King of Glory
The title King of Glory is more than just a phrase—it’s a declaration of divine majesty, eternal authority, and unshakable hope. Throughout Scripture, Jesus is revealed not only as the suffering servant and risen Savior but also as the reigning King of Glory who deserves all honor, worship, and allegiance.
Who Is the King of Glory?
Psalm 24:7–10 gives us one of the most powerful images of this title:
“Lift up your heads, you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle… He is the King of glory.” (NIV)
This passage, prophetic and poetic, speaks of a triumphant entrance—a royal return of the One who has conquered all enemies. Christians understand this to point to Jesus Christ, who defeated sin, death, and the grave, and now reigns in glory at the right hand of the Father.
Jesus Reigns with Power and Compassion
Unlike earthly kings who rule through coercion or fear, Jesus reigns with a heart of mercy and justice. He is both Lion and Lamb—majestic in authority, yet tender in love.
-
As King, He rules the heavens and the earth (Matthew 28:18).
-
As Savior, He laid down His life for His people (John 10:11).
-
As Lord of Lords, He will return in glory to judge and renew all things (Revelation 19:11–16).
His kingdom is not built on human strength, political systems, or fading glory—it is established in righteousness and will never end (Isaiah 9:6–7).
Living Under the Reign of the King of Glory
To call Jesus “King of Glory” is to surrender to His lordship in every area of life. It means aligning our values with His Word, trusting Him above all else, and living as citizens of His unshakable Kingdom.
We are invited into a relationship where Jesus is not just our rescuer, but our ruler. This brings both comfort and challenge:
-
Comfort, because we know He reigns over chaos with perfect wisdom.
-
Challenge, because following a King means obedience and loyalty.
A Coming Glory
One day, every eye will see Him, every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:9–11). The King of Glory will return—not in humility, but in power, clothed in majesty, with all heaven proclaiming His greatness.
Until then, we live in joyful anticipation, lifting the King of Glory Worship Flag that remindis us of Psalm 24:8-10
“Who is this King of glory? The Lord Strong and Mighty, the Lord Mighty in Battle. Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and lift up ye ever lasting doors; and the King of Glory shall come in.
